- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)
For the Stir-Fry:
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil (divided)
- 1 large onion, sliced into wedges
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced into strips
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced into strips
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, minced
For the Sauce:
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 3 tbsp water (slurry)
- ½ cup beef broth or water
- 1 tsp sugar
- ½ tsp black pepper (freshly ground)
Instructions
- Marinate the Beef:
In a bowl, combine beef slices with soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil. Let it marinate for 15–20 minutes while you prep the vegetables. - Prepare the Sauce:
In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, beef broth, sugar, and black pepper. Set aside. - Cook the Beef:
Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat. Add marinated beef in batches (do not overcrowd) and stir-fry for 1–2 minutes until browned. Remove beef and set aside. - Stir-Fry Vegetables:
In the same pan, add remaining oil. Toss in onions and bell peppers; stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until slightly tender but still crisp. Add garlic and ginger, cooking for 30 seconds until fragrant. - Combine & Thicken:
Return beef to the pan. Pour in the sauce, stir well, and bring to a simmer. Add the cornstarch slurry and cook for 1–2 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and vegetables. - Serve:
Remove from heat and serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
