Introduction

Cinnamon Swirl Apple Fritter Bread is the perfect homemade treat for apple lovers. Bursting with fresh apples, layered with sweet cinnamon sugar, and topped with a light glaze, this quick bread tastes just like a classic apple fritter donut in sliceable form. It’s soft, moist, and full of warm fall flavors—ideal for breakfast, brunch, or an afternoon snack with coffee or tea.

Ingredients

For the Bread:

  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • ⅔ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 ½ cups apple chunks (peeled and diced, about 2 apples)

For the Cinnamon-Sugar Mixture:

  • ⅓ cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

For the Glaze:

  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1–2 tablespoons milk

Instructions

1. Prepare the Pan

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan (or line with parchment paper).

2. Make the Batter

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk, until just combined.

3. Layer the Bread

  1. Pour half the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  2. Add half the apples and sprinkle with half the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  3. Repeat with remaining batter, apples, and cinnamon-sugar on top.
  4. Lightly swirl the layers with a knife for a marbled effect.

4. Bake

  • Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

5. Add the Glaze

  • Whisk together powdered sugar and milk until smooth.
  • Drizzle over cooled bread before slicing.

Storage

  • Store at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
  • Refrigerate for up to 5 days.
  • Freeze (unglazed) for up to 2 months—thaw and glaze before serving.
