  • Cinnamon sugar for coating
  • Cream cheese, jam, Nutella, or banana slices

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bread:
Use a rolling pin to flatten each slice of bread.
  2. Add the Filling:
Place one mozzarella stick at the edge of each slice and roll up tightly. Press the seam to seal.
  3. Set Up Coating Station:
    • Bowl 1: Flour
    • Bowl 2: Beaten eggs
    • Bowl 3: Breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder and paprika (if using)
  4. Coat the Rolls:
Dip each roll in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs until fully coated.
  5. Fry:
Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry rolls for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  6. Drain & Serve:
Place on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with marinara sauce or preferred dip.

Variations

Savory Ideas:

  • Herb Explosion: Add oregano, basil, or Italian seasoning to the breadcrumbs.
  • Cheese Swap: Try pepper jack, cheddar, or gouda.
  • Stuffed Surprise: Add pepperoni, ham, or turkey slices before rolling.
  • Air Fryer Method: Cook at 375°F (190°C) for 6–8 minutes, turning halfway.

Sweet Ideas:

  • Cream Cheese & Jam: Swap mozzarella for sweetened cream cheese and jam, then coat in cinnamon sugar after frying.
  • Nutella Banana Rolls: Spread Nutella and add banana slices before rolling, fry, and dust with powdered sugar.

Pro Tips

  • Seal Well: Use a bit of water to press edges together and prevent cheese leaks.
  • Freeze Before Frying: Chill rolls for 10–15 minutes for cleaner frying.
  • Double Coating: Repeat egg and breadcrumb step for extra crunch.
  • No Waste: Save bread crusts for breadcrumbs or croutons.

Storage & Make-Ahead

Cooked Leftovers:

  • Store in an airtight container with paper towels in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in an oven or air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 5–7 minutes. Avoid microwaving.

Uncooked Rolls:

  • Refrigerate breaded rolls (unfried) for up to 24 hours.
  • Freeze on a baking sheet until solid, then store in a zip-top bag for up to 1 month. Fry from frozen, adding 1–2 minutes cooking time.
